Antibiotic resistance: Investigating the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in a particular bacterial strain, or exploring potential solutions for combating antibiotic resistance, & Microbial genetics: Exploring the genetic basis of bacterial traits such as virulence or motility or investigating the evolution of bacterial populations over time.
